update: thought it was windows, but I'm seeing it with linux now too.
It probably had something to do with jdk1.4.2 or tomcat 4.1.17 or the xsl-parser of it. Anyway I read the XPathAPI javadoc of xalan and reimpelmented a moethod in editwizard.Utils and now it works.
